The NameThe name "Ekklesia" is an ancient Greek (the language of the New Testament) word that means "community"; "gathering"; "a group with shared beliefs"; "church." It is pronounced "Ekk-lay-SEE-uh". We wanted our name to reflect who we are, our uniqueness, and to show that we're a different kind of church. You've never seen anything like us!
Ekklesia is a community that seeks to reach the unchurched, those who have given up on church, and to see people come to know Jesus Christ personally. We want to form knowledgeable, passionate, followers of Jesus and plant other growing churches.
This is a church plant that will equip believers for personal ministry, to encourage them to use their gifts and to actively reach the unchurched around them. Ekklesia seeks to reach out to those who have given up on church, think it is irrelevant to their lives, and have serious questions about faith and life.
These are the values that we hold to be a core part of who are: Relevant Expository Teaching, Authentic Accepting Community, Passionate Modern Worship, Relational Evangelism, Fervent Prayer, and Living Godly Lifestyles in the World. Read more about each one here.
These are our core theological beliefs. It is straightforward but contains some theological language, so if something is unclear and you have a question, please ask! Read What We Believe here.
Our LeadershipOur two pastors, James Ferguson and Chris Dewar, are very down to earth and relational. They, along with James' wife, Tiffanie, form the "Pastoral Team" which currently oversees Ekklesia. Their main focus is to cast vision and keep us focused on where God is directing us as well as overseeing the pastoral concerns of the church. Read more about each of them here! Also, Tiffanie Ferguson and Amy Rissler serve Ekklesia as Deacons who help oversee ministries and support the pastors.
